摘要: In nature, fish has astonishing swimming ability after thousands years evolution. Such astonishing swimming ability inspires us to improve the performance of aquatic man-made robotic systems, namely Robotic Fish. Instead of the conventional rotary propeller used in ship or underwater vehicles, the undulation movement provides the main energy of a robotic fish. The observation on a real fish shows that this kind of propulsion is noiseless, effective, and more manoeuvrable than the propeller-based propulsion. The aim of our research is to design and build autonomous robotic fishes that are able to swim like a real fish, reactive to the environment dynamics and move toward the real-world applications such as water pollution detection, seabed exploration, and sea life investigation. They share many characteristics of real fishes, which make the project very challenging. This talk will briefly overview the current state of art robotic fish research, and present our biologically inspired approach to the development of advanced robotic fish. More specifically, bio-mimetic behaviour modelling, sensor-based navigation, and multiple fish cooperation are discussed respectively, and some preliminary results are demonstrated via video clips.
简历: Huosheng Hu is a Professor in the School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex, leading the robotics research. He received the PhD degree in robotics from the University of Oxford in theU.K.His research interests include behaviour-based robotics, human-robot interaction, embedded systems, data fusion, learning algorithms, intelligent mechatronics, and pervasive computing. He has published over 380 papers in journals, books and conferences in these areas, and received a number of best paper awards. Prof. Hu is a Fellow of Institute of Engineering & Technology, a Fellow of Institute of Measurement & Control, a senior member of IEEE and ACM, a founding member of IEEE Robotics & Automation Society Technical committee on Networked Robots. He has been a Program Chair or a member of Advisory/Organising Committee for many international conferences such as IEEE IROS, ICRA, ICMA, ROBIO, and IASTED RA and CA conferences. He is currently Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Automation and Computing, Founding Editor-in-Chief for Robotics Journal and Executive Editor for International Journal of Mechatronics and Automation.
