Educational Goal of Communication Engineering
Brief Introduction
We mainly cultivate interdisciplinary talents with the following competence and qualities: all-round development, a solid foundation, a wide view, creative and professional, which is to accommodate the need for talents with the speedy information development of nation.
Focusing on communication technology, the major has a wide choice for jobs combing the application of PC. It focuses on communication system design, intelligent information processing, wireless communications, monitoring & control, modern switching technology, optical communication technology, computer vision & image processing, etc.
As a part of Department of electronic engineering, the major has a strong power of research and teaching and entrusted with a lot of national project of “863”, National Natural Science Foundation of China, The National Defense Advanced Research, Foundation of SHMEC., etc. Many of the achievements have reached the advanced level all aroundChina, and cooperated well with ones of the same trade. We’ve got four loads for bachelors, and we award bestowed Bachelor degree.
Specialty of the Major
The major has a wide choice for jobs in communication industry. We cultivate the mathematics and physics and foreign language, computer application ability in teaching and strengthen basic teaching of communication and electronic technology to enable students to have the basic knowledge of communication technology, communication system and communication network by learning communication theory and modern communications technology and enable them to conduct scientific research, design projects, manufacture equipment and operate network in the multiple levels of communication and exchange network, optical communications, wireless communications, information processing and multimedia communications such as the National Information Infrastructure.
Training Goal
To cultivate interdisciplinary talents with knowledge of communication technology, communication system and communication network, and those talents will be able to engage in the research, design, manufacturing, operations, and to track the new theory, the development of new technologies in the fields of communication with innovative ability.
Courses offered
Circuit theory, computer technology, signal systems, electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic waves, digital signal processing, communication theory, network communication, modern switching technology, mobile communications, microwave and satellite communications.
And we’ve got the top courses ‘network communication (bilingual)’, which are the part of ‘Shanghai Key Course Construction Project’ “Signals and Systems” (accepted), and the “digital circuit” and ‘Communication Theory.’
Staff
We’ve got a staff, who are in proper age, and have a well knowledge structure and high quality. There are 16 faculty including 2 professors and 5 vice professors. Over 44% of the staff has the degree of senior teacher, including 1 post doctor and 9 doctors. Among the senior teachers, there are7 master instructors.
Employment
The graduates can be engaged in communications equipment, systems and network research, design, development, operation and technology introduction and management work in communications and electronic information industry. In recent years graduates concentrated on enterprises of communications systems, high-tech development company, research institutes, design units, shipping, electronics, financial system and the government and universities and other fields.
Interns
We focus on the practice to cultivate students’ engineering quality based on the principle of “both theory and practice”. Practice includes two types in and out of school. The campus training has comprehensive communications and information processing lab, shipping Electronic Technology Laboratory, Digital Signal Processing Laboratory (TI United Laboratory), microwave and RF communication technology laboratories. To cultivate the students’ innovative ability, we create a good environment, we have three school metalwork, the internship factories, school experiment Centers, school electrical and Electronic experiment Center campus practice bases. Practice bases are mainly located in the port and shipping enterprises and electronic information enterprises. The major has been linked with Haibang Electronic System Engineering Co., Ltd., Shanghai China Shipping Telecom Co., Ltd. We have 5 practice bases courses to meet students’ needs of internships, teaching and production.
