Brief introduction:
Electronic and communication engineering is the integrated use of theory methods on the electronic and communication discipline and the technology of engineering realization, combining the electronic and communication technology with production practice, and is the professional field in which it can primely solve the practical issues in production practice. As the core discipline of the current information technology, Electronic and Communication Engineering not only has the systematic science theory, but also has a wide range of applications, electronic and communication products have already deepened in all aspects of industry, national defense and life.
Over the years, the institute of electronic engineering in Shanghai maritime university has been engaged in the deep and broad research in product exploration on electronics and communication (such as DSP system exploration, embedded computer system development, single-chip microcomputer system development);in the aspects of marine communication, navigation and image processing; in aspects of port wireless communication and computer measurement and control; and also in aspects of traffic safety and biological signal processing, underwater robot and intelligent system. Now there are thirty full-time teachers engaged in teaching and research—-4 Professors,11 Associate Professors, 12 doctoral lecturers,1 doctoral supervisor, 15 master tutors, 70% of them having doctor degrees.
At present this discipline chaired two National “863” Schemes, participated once in the National “863” Scheme; chaired five National Natural Science Fund projects, and nearly 20 other projects on University Doctoral Program Fund, Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan, Shanghai Natural Science Fund, the Education Innovation Plan and Subproject of National Science and Technology Support Plan; At the same time this discipline also takes a large number of authorized projects on aspects of aerospace measurement and control, port ship automation for enterprises and institutions.
This discipline ,with cooperated enterprises, owns many internship bases :Shanghai Network Information Technology co., LTD., Shanghai China Telecom co., LTD., Shanghai BangDa Electronic System Engineering co., LTD., Shanghai Maritime Bureau the Wusong VTS Center, Shanghai Maritime Bureau Shanghai Coast Station, Shanghai Radio and Television Song Radar Communication Equipment Factory. And we also employ experienced senior professionals in enterprises to undertake the task of professional postgraduate training. We try to establish perfect double tutorial system inside and outside our university, with the priority to the inside tutorial guidance and the next with multiple links of guidance work from off-campus teachers to participate in the practice process, project research, curriculum and papers, and others.
